600 Followers! – Thank You All

Apparently, I now have 600 followers and readers! WordPress failed to inform me of this ‘grand event’ on the actual day, but one of my kind readers, Devang, told me about this. I know it’s not a large number compared to many bloggers who have clocked up well over 1,000; however, it means the world to me, and I want to thank you all sincerely for supporting me in my newish journey to better health and peace of mind. It’s been a hard slog for me to get to this point and you’ve been there when times were very rough and my coping with life skills were at rock bottom.

Without you, old and new readers and followers, I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am now, which is a much happier space than last year. You have supported me through my troubles, been there by my side, cheering me on, and been incredibly encouraging. I am eternally grateful to you.*Round of applause πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘* for you, my wonderful friends. Each and every one of you is important and much-valued in my life.

Finally, as I often say, I’m sorry I’m so dreadfully behind in reading all your posts, partly because I’ve had my family here for a few days, and any of you who have small children in the house knows how almost impossible it is to sit down to read or write. I currently have 112 email notifications in my inbox, and it would take me a month of Sundays to get through them all. Please, forgive me If I’ve missed your recent posts. Sometimes, I get time to read and genuinely ‘like,’ but I haven’t always had time to leave a comment. I will do my best to catch up, but I apologise if I have missed some of your valuable work.

If I get time, I hope to post a short piece of fiction sometime today. I have it in draft form, so I hope to work on that a bit and my catching up of your posts, too.

Once again, thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the important part you play in my life. I love you all. Ellie Xxx πŸ’–πŸ’πŸ’

Writing my memoirs, musings, a little fiction and a lot of poetry as a way of exploring and making the most of my life ... ... Having had a break from writing my blog for more than three years, I decided to return to write my memoirs, some day-to-day observations, views and feelings. My passion is non-fiction poetry. I have a disability and use an electric powerchair called Alfie and let nothing get in the way of living life to the full. I believe that you can never do a kindness too soon and should give credit where credit is due. A smile or a kind word could make the difference between a good or bad day for a person - we never know what's going on for another soul. Those little things, perhaps, practised daily like a mantra, could mean so much to someone else. Thank you for visiting my blog and reading a little more about me. Please, make yourself at home here. You are very welcome. Ellie x 😊

  1. Ellie, congrats on the followers milestone. But more importantly, congrats on the level of engagement you generate. As a person with thousands of followers and tens of readers, I can tell you that number of followers can be a very misleading figure. Much more impressive is the depth and width of the conversations you’re having in your comments section. Well done.

    1. Thank you so much, Jeff, for such a kind and encouraging comment. I hadn’t thought of that, although I do love having conversations in the comments with my readers and followers. You are all good friends to me, and I appreciate each one of you. X 😊.

  2. Congratulations Ellie, I see it’s already up to 605 as I write this!! You are a wonderful writer and I enjoy reading your blog as I can see so many others do as well. I wish you the best and hope you continue to write and share your thoughts and experiences, good and bad.

    1. Thank you so much, Brian. That’s so kind of you to say. For some reason, WP doesn’t inform me how many followers I have. I am happy with all my readers and followers with whom I have built valuable relationships. I am very grateful to each one of you. I will continue to write as often as I can, as my writing is like my life’s breath. It’s what keeps me ticking. 😊.

  3. Good morning and congratulations Ellie, you are a wonderful writer. It great to hear your family visited. We understand not being able to always read, like or comment on blogs–busy lives. Just being able to read your wonderful blogs is enough for me. Enjoy your day/night and remain safe.

    1. Thank you very much, Tangie. That’s so kind of you to say. I do love reading everyone’s blogs, but as you say, there isn’t always time especially when we have visitors. Thank you for saying that you enjoy my writing – that means a lot to me. I hope your day/night is a good one, too. Xx πŸ’Ÿ

  4. Haha!!! Huge congrats to you Ellie!!! πŸ‘πŸ» It’s a wonderful thing to realize, “Hey, I have people who really care and support me… by several methods, near and far, even as far away as another planet!!! 😯 Called Texas. 😘

    1. Thanks so much, Dwain. I’m glad you, too, have people supporting you and caring about you. We all need a little bit of tender loving care (TLC). WordPress is a wonderful world – it’s great to connect with so many people from all over the world and, as you say, from near and far.

Just to add, I’m not ignoring your emails. I just need to find time to respond properly and give them the attention they deserve. They are sitting safely in my inbox and are starred, so I know exactly where they are. Thank you for those. I will respond as soon as I can. X πŸ₯°

    1. Thanks, Tamara. After I left my blog unattended for three years, I came back and had 340 followers at that point (I’d been blogging for seven years by then – it’s about ten now). Since coming back a year ago, I’ve gained the remainder of my current followers. I’m so touched and grateful that so many people find my work interesting enough to read on a regular basis. I am very humbled. Xx πŸ’Ÿ

  5. First of all, CongratZ on the followers milestone! You share great stuff, so no wonder people want to read it.
As far as you being behind on reading other blogs is concerned – we’ve talked about this – it happens and sometimes you just have to start fresh. On a sidenote – I’m not sure why, but it seems that the people I follow are posting a lot more often than they used to. It’s really becoming hard to keep track of and sadly, I am considering dropping some to ease my Reader. This is why I can’t do Twitter – my wall just updates too often, too much content…

    1. Thank you for the congrats, Sam, and for your kind words about my posts. Keeping up with reading other people’s posts is an ongoing struggle sometimes. This week, I’ve had my son and the children here, so as you can imagine, nothing got done till today after they left. I really love having them here, but it does put me behind on many things.

As for keeping up, I like to reciprocate every person who takes the time to leave a comment on my blog. Of course, I can’t read that number of new posts, so I do have my favourites, which I make a point to read first. I, too, have noticed people posting more often, but I can hardly comment as I’m one of those who used to post about once a week or even a fortnight, whereas I know I post about every three days.

I can understand your need to drop some of your followed blogs – there really is only a certain amount of time that any of us has to spend with WordPress.

I have redundant Twitter and Instagram accounts – they exist, but it has been months since I have been on there. I just don’t have time to keep up with all the social media channels, and I rarely use FB, apart from a family group page. X 🌷

      1. Yes, my Twitter only exists in case I need it when an agent wants to sign me and make me famous. Hahahah, one can dream! I visit Twitter on very infrequently and only for a minute or two at a time. Though, this year I rescheduled some regular Tweets to see how that changes things – it doesn’t.

I’ve been using comments on my posts to visit other blogs probably since the beginning of my blog. I think more and more people use this technique. Of course, it gets tougher when you get as many comments as you sometimes do. But, in a way – it’s just a wonderful testament to your content and you shouldn’t dwell on the potential drawbacks of that.

        1. Thanks, Sam. I’m very grateful to all my readers, followers and those who comment. I count myself very lucky in having people who are interested in what I write about. Each person means something important to me. Have a great weekend X 😊🌹.

  6. Let’s get that all the way to 700!!!! AND MORE! AND MORE AND MORE! Here’s 600 roses just for you on this special day Ellie! 🌹 (Represented by one instead of typing out 600 roses for the obvious reasons πŸ˜‚)

    1. Aww, thank you, Christopher. That’s just so lovely of you. You are always so kind. I appreciate your rose 600 times – you’d be here till Christmas trying to type out 600 roses 😁 Xx πŸ’™πŸŒ·πŸ’œπŸŒ·πŸ’œπŸŒ·πŸ’™

  7. Congrats on 600 followers! That’s huge! Enjoy your family’s visit, and don’t worry about not keeping up with emails and posts. None of us can do it all the time. Blogging is supposed to be fun, not a chore. Just hit that delete button….you can read the newer posts as they come in, when you have the time!

    1. Thank you so much, Ann, for your encouraging words. I have had to delete some of my emails and a few posts as it was just impossible to catch up with such a big backlog. I do love reading my blogging friend’ posts though; I just wish I had more time. I appreciate your advice and thoughts. X

    1. Thank you so much, Layla. The WordPress community is a wonderful thing. I love connecting with people from all over the world. Because of WordPress, I have made so many friends and I value you all so much. Xx πŸ’–

  8. Congratulations!
Really you tell, wordpress is a wonderful world _ it’s great to connect with so many people from all over the world and, as you near & far, even as far away.

  9. Congratulations on 600 followers, Ellie! I am definitely proud to be one of the 600 followers because you are amazing and I enjoy what you write!! Keep up the good word sweet lady, I look forward to the post when you announce 1,000 followers!!!

    1. Aww, thanks very much, Alyssa. You are very kind. Nothing {I hope] will stop me from writing. It’s one of the things I am most passionate about in my life. I think it’ll be an awful long time to get to 1,000 followers πŸ˜‰. I’m just happy to have my regular readers. I think it’s more about quality then quantity, although it’s lovely to know that those people enjoy my writing and interact with me. Hugs Xx πŸ€—πŸ’•

      1. You are very welcome!! I have no doubt that you will get to 1,000 followers soon. You are amazing, so please never forget that!!! I do agree with you that it is about quality and not the quantity!!

    1. Thanks, Andy. No one is perfect, even if they think they are. To keep making progress is far more important to me. Thank you for your kind words about my blog. I think the secret is that I write directly from my heart 😊.

  10. Woooooooo, that’s awesome! Congratulations – just goes to show that you’re a talented writer & people want to read whatever you have to say! πŸ₯³ πŸŽ‰

Also, try not to sweat it with keeping up with other blog posts. I get like this a LOT and even when trying to slow it down and do a little less, I feel so guilty. It’s easy for me to say it to someone else though rather than apply it to myself so – No apologies needed, you just keep doing what you’re doing, focus on you, your blog, writing, your family, etc. Don’t put extra stress on yourself if it’s not necessary.

Congrats again, Ms Blogger Extraordinaire! πŸ₯³ xxxxxx

  11. Aww, thank you for your congratulations and such kind words, Caz. I’ve had my two grandchildren here since Thursday. They’ve just gone home, and I am shattered. Children their age (10 and 8) are hard work.

Thanks for being so understanding about my not keeping up with everyone’s blogs. I, too, feel so guilty when I don’t keep up with all my blogging friends. I’m hoping to write about the last couple of days sometime in the next couple of days if I can find the time. Also, thank you for being so kind to say how you feel about my blog. Your views are much appreciated. I hope you are well, or as well as you can be in your circumstances. I’m going to be having a much-needed early night tonight to get my energy back. Xx πŸ₯°πŸ’ž

        1. I’m glad you’re okay, Scarlett. I am well, too, thank you, although I’ve had my grandchildren here with me this week, so nothing else has got done, not even catching up with my blog reading. I expect I’ll get back on track at some point. Xx πŸŒžπŸ’•

  12. It’s all because of the work you di and all because of the things that you really deserve in your life! I’m really happy for you a lotβ€πŸ’•πŸ˜Š

  13. Congrats, Ellie! Much deserved. I’m so happy our paths have crossed on WordPress. I’m doing some catchup today on blogs, but it does feel like something I can never really be fully on top of. I’m giving myself some slack that I’m doing my best and suggest you do the same. We all love you!

    1. Aww, thank you, my dear friend. I, too, am so very glad we met here. You mean a lot to me. All my readers do. Thank you for taking the time to leave me such lovely comments today. They are much appreciated.

I never seem to get on top of reading blogs, either. It’s constant effort to read everyone’s work, although I get great pleasure from doing so. I’m way, way behind this week and know I should cut myself some slack. All my generous blogging friends tell me it’s okay to do that. It’s just that the guilt factor kicks in when my inbox is holding over 100 new post notifications. I’m sending you so much love, too. Xx πŸ’–
